I am often cold, Peter would say “always.” However, I would argue that I did get too warm living without A/C in Germany and during the summer here in our apartment with its goofy air circulation. When I get cold, especially my feet, I feel as though I’ll never be warm again. It takes layers of blankets or direct heat from the space heater to … [Read more...]
You want me to be aware of What?
December is Awareness of Awareness Months Month. Seriously? When I read this on our Tuesday Ten Facebook Page, I thought, “Surely you must be joking.” A quick google search verified this “new” awareness month and solidified my idea that the world really has gone crazy. I am all for awareness of causes and conditions that plague our society, but … [Read more...]
The Time I Did Not Kill the Movers
One Year Ago we returned stateside. Five Months Ago we received our household goods, not quite in the condition we expected. A month and half ago, the JAG office approved our damage claim, though the claim check took a little over a month to get to us. The replacement parts for the Sleep Number Bed are on their way and we begin to feel … [Read more...]
Facing Fear: Becoming and Unbecoming an Army Wife
Today is “Face Your Fears Day.” Many things I have overcome, attacking at full force, initially have little to do with choice. Like Rafiki in the Lion King said, “You can either run from it or learn from it.” I suppose a third choice is standing still, letting life happen to you without really experiencing anything one way or the other. At the … [Read more...]
What Will my Future Be?
After looking back last week and remembering the past, this week we look forward. Imagining the distant future has always been a challenge for me. I cannot picture or even fathom what life might be like in a year or two or ten. Even though I cannot visualize how everything will go, I still set goals and work toward a future. In ten years, … [Read more...]
Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
I did not have a Facebook account yet. I had to dig through my picture box of CD’s and scrapbooks for these photos. Facebook opened to the general pubic in September 2006, and I joined (to keep up with my still in college/grad school friends and family). To be fair, I didn’t blog much back then and I didn’t get a Twitter account until a few months … [Read more...]
Arguments That Never Die
Do you have any long-standing, never-ending arguments? Maybe you enjoy stirring the pot and keeping the feud going day after day, year after year. Today is “Kiss and Make Up Day.” In that spirit, here is the Top Ten Arguments That Never Die in the Caswell Clan. The who kissed whom first Peter insists I kissed him first. I refuse to acknowledge … [Read more...]
Lessons from The Muppet Movie
Being a child of the Eighties, I grew up with Sesame Street (I believe older episodes were better). Jim Henson’s Muppets made the show, in my opinion. Kermit the Frog was among my favorite characters. The Muppet Movie (the original) remains my favorite of all Muppet movies. I’m surprised that I didn’t wear out my VHS copy and somehow my DVD remains … [Read more...]
Not on this Blog
Time for a Tuesday 10 Post. This week, our hostesses chose the topic “Ten Posts I will NEVER Write.” Here are a few things you can expect never to see on this blog. Anything related to the bedroom relationship between my husband and me. Not because I am a prude, but because I believe certain things should stay “in the bedroom.” The closest I … [Read more...]
More about this Transitional Life
Ten Things That Surprised Me about Our Transitional Life This list will include items from our transition from living in Germany and returning to the states in addition to leaving the military culture. Though I married into the military, leaving it and getting used to civilian life again has required an adjustment period. Every once in a while, we … [Read more...]
