A late “Ten Things” post, with a bonus ten list

I’m a little behind, but I’ll blame being in England. A few weeks ago, the Ten Things Thursday theme was “Ten Things I want to say to my Kids” (although when I first read it, I saw “Then Things I want my Kids to say”). I reflected on both, so I will share both lists. These are not exhaustive lists, and the latter has some simple words with big thoughts attached.

Ten Things I want to Say to My Kids… Whether daily, nightly, weekly, or whenever, some messages must be reiterated throughout life. Here are the ones I hope to communicate.

  1. God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
  2. God is always there, always listens, and wants to hear your prayers. Pray without ceasing.

  3. Love God first.
  4. Study the Bible.
  5. Work for a living, using your talents wisely.
  6. I love you.
  7. I will do my best to be there and listen anytime you need me.
  8. I am praying for you.
  9. Helping and serving others is not only what God wants, it will also make you a happier, healthier person.
  10. Be courteous, polite, and kind to all you meet.
Ten Things I want my Kids to Say… Some of these are daily, simple things. Some are maybe/definitely still a few years away, but the most important.
  1. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and want to be baptized.
  2. I love you.
  3. Thank you.
  4. Please.
  5. I want to participate in VBS, short-term missions (or other works of service in the church)
  6. I want to go to college.
  7. I have a job!
  8. “I do”
  9. You’re going to be grandparents!
  10. I’m praying for you.
