Waves that Matter

Do you ever feel like you’re drifting through life, craving real connection, but not quite sure how to find it?

You’re not alone.

Through busy schedules, constant noise, and endless responsibilities, it’s easy to feel disconnected. That disconnect affects every relationship: from God, from others, even from ourselves. We were created for meaningful relationships, but we often allow daily life to pull us in a thousand different directions.

A few weeks ago, I read a story that caught my attention. I saved the article and re-read it several times. The news story talked about a record-breaking rogue wave. In 2020, a wave nearly 58 feet tall was recorded off the coast of British Columbia. Scientists called it the most extreme wave of its kind ever observed. It came without warning and followed none of the patterns. It left a lasting mark.

We all make waves. With every choice we make, word we speak, and every action toward others, we send ripples into the world.

  • The words we say can encourage or defeat.
“The tongue has the power of life and death…”Proverbs 18:21
  • Simple acts of kindness can lift someone’s spirit in ways we’ll never know.
“Give, and it will be given to you…”Luke 6:38
  • A wise decision in a stressful moment can change the course of your life (and even the lives around you). Sadly, the opposite is also true.
“Be very careful, then, how you live…”Ephesians 5:15-16
  • A moment of compassion can become the beginning of someone else’s healing.
“Encourage one another and build each other up…”1 Thessalonians 5:11

Perhaps it is when the waters of life feel the deepest and most overwhelming that we need the greatest connection. In 2 Samuel 22:17, David says, “He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.” In Psalm 34:18, we read, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, He saves the contrite in spirit.”

God’s plan isn’t that we merely stay afloat and survive our storm. He calls us to thrive by making waves that bring life,  build others up, reflect His love, and leave a lasting impact.

Why settle for ripples when you could make waves

Create connection, not isolation. Healing, not harm. Hope, not confusion.

Make waves that matter. Waves of hope for eternity!
