Tire-some 2024 Review
This was NOT a good year for our tires. Actually, the trouble began at the end of 2023, with a bolt in a tire. In February, we had our first “changing a tire on the side of the road” incident. I was able to pull into a gas station. My parents were with us, and my dad helped teach my son how to change a tire. When we took it to the tire place, a tire weight had managed to puncture the tire. Fortunately, the tire could be repaired.
In May, on another trip to ballet, we experienced another “low tire” warning. We changed the tire at the studio. My husband didn’t want us to come back to town on the donut, so we went to a tire place. This time, the tire could not be repaired and the trip ended with buying two new tires.
When we took our Little House road trip, the morning we were going to visit the museum, “ding,” low tire warning. I held my breath, driving to find a tire place. The pressure didn’t continue deflating. The temperature had dropped just enough to change the air pressure.
Finally, right before Thanksgiving while we were visiting my parents, we had another problem. As we pulled out of our favorite Mexican food place, “ding.” I pulled into the gas station with a working air pump, only to realize the air was wooshing out of the tire. We once again put the donut on and the next day the local tire guy fixed it.
Despite all of these instances, I am thankful we could navigate to a safe place to change the tire in each instance. I also feel confident in my son’s ability to change a tire, though he is not a fan of any of these stories. It’s been tire-some, but God saw us through each event.
