The End of the Story
The fourth time is the charm! After weeks of frustration, including lost parts and repeated cancellations, we finally have a working dishwasher, a changed outlet, and everything back in place.
The biggest problem was not a non-functioning appliance. The greater issue was the lack of consideration for our time and the overall inconvenience. From waiting on repairs to the disappointment and frustration with each rescheduling, the process dragged on longer than anticipated. This experience reminded me of some important truths.
- My timing is imperfect.
No matter how carefully I plan, schedule, or reschedule, life does not always bend to my timeline. God’s Word reminds us: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 55:8) My perspective is short-sighted, while God’s timing is perfect and purposeful, even when it means waiting longer than I would prefer. - Inconveniences create opportunities for growth.
While I wanted the dishwasher fixed quickly, the waiting exposed my impatience. Delays often reveal what is truly within us. James 1:3–4 says, “For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. Let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” God uses delays and inconveniences to shape us into people of endurance and maturity. - My job is faithfulness, not control.
When all is said and done, my role is to follow God, no matter what happens. Ecclesiastes 12:13 says, “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” Solomon reminds us that in the end, when the frustrations and waiting are behind us, what matters most is a steady faith in God. The dishwasher works again, yet I was reminded that patience and trust in God’s timing matter far more than quick fixes.
Maybe you have your own “dishwasher saga” right now—not about an appliance, but about waiting for answers, resolution, or relief. You have cleaned every corner you can, tried every fix you know, and still you are stuck waiting.
Take heart in this: the end of the matter rests in God’s hands. In the meantime, His call to us is simple and steady—to fear Him, keep His commands, and trust that He is at work, even when the process feels stalled.
The dishwasher finally runs again, yet the greater cycle God is running in each of us—the shaping of our hearts in patience, faith, and obedience—is far more important.
