Living Christianity

Professing Christianity is not the same as Living Christianity. Insanity has been defined as “doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result.” By this definition, how often is Insanity also a crisis of faith, a spiritual sickness more than a mental illness? (Note: I am NOT discounting or discrediting mental illness).

I marvel at the people who don’t ALLOW Him to love them “warts and all” – with their mouths they proclaim belief, with their actions they limit Him, put Him in a box, but don’t change their own lives! Worse yet, they end up creating a new god, nothing like the one revealed in Scripture, who agrees with their life choices.

Repentance is to turn away from sin, to go in the opposite direction, and to walk in agreement with God. When we pick and choose attributes of God and single verses, we are not walking in agreement with God. We are living a gospel according to selfishness, not the Gospel of Peace brought (and bought) by Jesus.

When we choose His joy, we have less desire for the things that would separate us from His presence. If we believe in God in the same way we believe “magic” or “illusionist” shows, hope is nothing more than a wish and faith is worthless. Do we struggle with doubts? Absolutely! The how and why of our wrestling determines the outcome. If the fight is due to continuously putting yourself over God, “interpreting” His word to fit your false beliefs while yet living in sin, you will lose every time. If those doubts are because the human brain is limited, due to our temporary nature,  you will seek answers only He provides. Everything around us eventually expires, but we can have a confident expectation of eternity.

Wrestling with doubt strengthens faith and allows growth. Rather than doing the same thing over and over again, challenge yourself to see things differently. Look through the Scriptures in context and without a need to prove your own opinion.
